RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Safety & Discipline :
Assist the bus driver in maintaining discipline on the school bus and ensuring student safety during transit. Monitor and assist students while the bus is in operation.
Documentation & Record-Keeping :
Collaborate with the bus driver to document student information, maintain accurate records, and complete route surveys as needed.
Safety Equipment :
Ensure that seat belts, harnesses, and wheelchair clamps are properly secured as required by safety regulations.
Loading & Unloading Assistance :
Support parents and school personnel in the safe loading and unloading of students. Coordinate the seating of pre-kindergarten students according to State Transportation Guidelines.
Communication :
Liaise with classroom aides, teachers, principals, and parents regarding student background, medical issues, and behavior as appropriate.
Emergency Preparedness :
Stay up-to-date with Emergency Evacuation procedures and be prepared to assist in emergency situations. Support for
Handicapped Students :
Assist handicapped children on and off the bus, escort them across the street upon return home, lift children as necessary, and ensure a responsible adult meets students as they leave the bus.
Professional Development :
Attend in-service meetings and training courses as assigned to maintain knowledge and skills.
Attendance :
Maintain regular attendance and be punctual in fulfilling responsibilities.
