Primary Purpose:
Assist in providing safe, efficient transportation for students to and from their respective schools.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Must be 18 years of age
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with students, drivers, parents, and teachers Willing to work with differently-abled students and understand their specific challenges and solutions required Ability to perform physical labor or operate equipment Must pass a Physical Performance Evaluation Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment Ability to manage student behavior

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Student Management Supervise students as they board and exit the bus and cross the street following established safety procedures. Learn and adapt to each student's individual medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs. Know special equipment available assuring that on board equipment and supplies are properly secured. Manage student behavior and report student discipline problems in a timely manner to appropriate administrator. Maintain a civil relationship with parents, guardians, patrons and all district personnel during the course of the workday. Escort students into the building and deliver to their assigned destination. Safety Assist in loading and unloading students and securing them in the bus according to their individual needs to maximize safety and comfort. This may include lifting and carrying students with special needs. Maintain readiness to perform emergency procedures and alternatives for each special need that arises. Operate equipment according to established safety procedures. Make sure seat belts, harnesses, or car seats are used correctly and help students use safety devises when needed. Follow emergency procedures including evacuation of students as needed and assist driver to administer first aid, if necessary. Other Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Become familiar with and follow procedures established by transportation and special education offices. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned

Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding; regular grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent quick movements in small areas
Lifting:
Frequent heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds on a daily basis
Environment:
Work 90% outside and 10% inside, on slippery, hard or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures (70o - 1100F), dust, noise, vibration; work around machinery with moving parts; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours
Mental Demands:

MS01 2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $12.93 Mid. $15.25 Max. $17.58 (Based on previous experience) Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school. Salary is based on 177 days. If working less than 177 days, the salary will be less.
