Job Title:
Substitute Transportation Assistant (Bus Aide) Reports to:
Transportation Supervisor FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment; Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university Must be able to work patiently with special needs students; Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties; Must be able to pass physical, including drug test; Fingerprint background check is required; Must pass a criminal background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards; Must have, or be able to obtain, current valid CPR/First aid certificate Safe Schools Training is REQUIRED, and needs to be completed BEFORE start date
Job Description:
Assist bus driver in providing safe transportation for students Review daily schedule and make adjustments Operate lift for wheelchairs Escort students to designated seating Help students secure seatbelts Secure tie-downs for wheelchairs Escort students to classroom and/or wait for classroom assistant Ensure students safely enter and exit bus Communicate with classroom assistant and/or teacher/parents Maintain bus cleanliness and safety by keeping floors dry and clear of objects Maintain appropriate student behavior while on bus Enforce the use of seatbelts Report the health issues of each student Assist with personal hygiene Other duties as assigned by Transportation Supervisor
