Are you a creative, high-energy individual who loves working with kids? Do you have a passion for teaching and want to make a lasting impact throughout the school year? If yes, then Kidizens is the place for you! Join Kidizens, an exciting and innovative enrichment program where kids create their own LEGO cities while learning about civics, leadership, problem-solving, economics, and community building. Kidizens is a unique, hands-on program for elementary-aged children where "kid citizens" work together to create functioning LEGO cities while exploring topics including city planning, government, entrepreneurship, economics, business, the environment, and much more. As a Seasonal Camp Counselor , you'll have the opportunity to work with children ages 5-12 during Kidizens' school-break camps throughout the year. You'll guide campers through fun, hands-on activities that combine LEGO building, city planning, role-play, and real-world problem-solving. Each camp has its own exciting theme, giving counselors the opportunity to help children explore new ideas while developing teamwork, creativity, leadership, and communication skills.
Role and Responsibilities:
Lead a group of approximately 15-24 kids, helping them navigate city-building projects, games, lessons, and collaborative activities. Collaborate with a dynamic team of counselors and instructors to deliver a high-quality, engaging camp experience. Deliver interactive lessons and activities on civics, leadership, economics, problem-solving, and community building. Guide children through hands-on LEGO building challenges and project-based learning activities. Foster a fun, safe, and positive environment while encouraging critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, and independence. Help manage daily camp routines, including transitions, breaks, cleanup, and outdoor activities. Adapt activities and instruction to meet the needs of different ages and learning styles. Serve as a positive role model and encourage campers to take ownership of their ideas, projects, and decisions.
Ideal Candidate:
We look for educators, professionals, and ambitious college students with experience working with children in camp, classroom, tutoring, coaching, or other educational settings. Candidates studying or holding degrees in psychology, education, political science, anthropology, environmental science, or the arts are especially encouraged to apply. In addition, an ideal candidate is: Passionate about working with children and nurturing their creativity. A strong communicator who can keep kids engaged and excited. Able to manage a classroom or camp group and guide children through activities with confidence. Creative, energetic, flexible, and comfortable thinking on their feet.
