Job Description

Recreational Therapist Grand Villa of Port Charlotte is seeking a compassionate and experienced Recreational Therapist to enrich the lives of our senior residents in both Assisted Living and Memory Care settings. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of seniors by providing engaging and therapeutic activities that promote well-being, independence, and joy. The position is ideal for college students or semi-retired individuals seeking a flexible, part-time role with a positive impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, plan, and implement recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the needs and interests of residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care. Assess residents' abilities and preferences to create personalized activity plans that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Facilitate group and individual activities, encouraging participation and social interaction among residents. Monitor and document residents' responses to activities, adjusting plans as needed to maximize engagement and benefits. Collaborate with staff, family members, and healthcare professionals to ensure activities support residents' overall care plans. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment during all activities, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in recreational therapy, activity coordination, or a related field, preferably with seniors or in healthcare settings. Knowledge of therapeutic activities suitable for seniors, including those with memory impairments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor. Ability to assess individual needs and adapt activities accordingly. Flexibility to work approximately 20 hours per week, including weekends. Relevant certifications or training in recreational therapy or activity coordination are preferred.
