Job Description

Essential Job Functions 1. Actively participate in scheduled recreational & leisure activities with all the children. 2. Create activity schedule/calendar. 3. Provide a variety of community outings, at least 10 annually for each child. 4. Organize music therapy sessions, holiday & birthday parties, all swimming activities, manage all activities with group volunteers for all children and complete monthly reports of volunteer hours as required. 5. Complete quarterly 90 Day Notes for all children within required timeframe. 6. Complete Annual Assessments for all children within required timeframe. 7. Accurately document all community outings for each child as they occur. 8. Orient and supervise summer camp staff (8 weeks), and provide complete schedule of activities/outings for that 8-week period. Requirements 1. High School diploma / GED required, Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy (or similar degree) is preferred, or 5 years of experience in providing recreational activities for medically fragile individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. 2. Must have a valid driver's license with 3 years of experience. 3. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed to participate in activities with residents, with a minimum of one (1) weekend day each bi-weekly pay period. 4. Computer experience required, especially with MS Office. Point Click Care experience is desired. 5. Should be kind and empathetic when providing support to residents and their families. 6. Plan, develop, and implement intervention programs in an effective manner. 7. Possesses patience; may work with some residents who require more time and special attention than others. 8. Be both creative and flexible when adapting activities or programs to each resident's needs. 9. Must be able to obtain approval from Archdiocese to operate vehicles for transporting residents to/from community outings. 10. Ability to lift and carry in excess of 50 pounds on a regular basis and push, pull and move up to 200 pounds occasionally with assistance. 11. Ability to stand, walk and move without limitations is required. Primary Purpose of Job Provides all aspects of the recreational needs of the residents, and is responsible for the safe and effective management and coordination of required annual community outings and summer camp program.
