JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Assistant Director of Aquatics Pay Rate:
$25
  • 30 based on qualifications Responsibilities On-deck instruction and coaching of swimmers in private and semi-private coaching sessions.
Deliver sessions in positive manner with high energy and adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience, learning style and ability of participants Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending coaching sessions on time Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe Communicate regularly with participants and their parents, as appropriate, to ensure they are aware of progress Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies in accordance with facility emergency action plans Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations Complete records and reports Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor Personal/Professional Development and Responsibilities Be receptive to professional and personal development Balance time commitments Give and receive feedback Recognize limitations and work to improve To function as a contributing member of the Campus Recreation team Expectations Respectfully manage disagreements and model positive rapport with patrons Role model appropriate behavior at all times, including in online communities Maintain regular and frequent communication with supervisory team Ability to interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations. Requirements Demonstrate confidence and knowledge swimming techniques, training principles, and competition strategies for long-term athlete development. Ability to positively interact with the general public. Safety Training for Swim Coaches or equivalency USA Swimming Coaching Certification(s) Must successfully complete a criminal background check and clearances Working Conditions Maximum of 24 hours worked per week for Campus Recreation Work will take place on the University Park Campus White Building or McCoy Natatorium (Indoor/Outdoor) Must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that will include mornings, evening, weekends and University breaks. This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
  • FBI Criminal Background Check.
