Role Summary The Assistant Manager keeps shifts running on time, on standard, and on budget — stepping in as the GM's right hand to protect food quality, guest experience, and team performance during every shift they lead. Without this role, shift coverage gaps, inconsistent service standards, and unresolved guest issues fall directly on the GM or go unaddressed. This person turns Thai Noodle King's hospitality and food-safety standards into what actually happens on the floor and in the kitchen, shift after shift. Key Responsibilities Lead the floor during assigned shifts —station readiness, pacing, quality, and guest recovery from open to close. Run pre-shift lineups — confirm specials, 86 list, allergen notes, and menu standards with the team. Uphold back-of-house standards — recipes, spice levels, plating, line checks, and hold times. Manage in-shift labor — call-ins, section adjustments, breaks, and redeployment as volume shifts. Coach in the moment — service steps, upselling, table touches, and cleanliness. Handle cash for the shift — tills, comps/voids within authority, and end-of-shift close. Complete required checklists — opening/closing, sanitation, temperature logs, and facility walk-throughs. Support inventory and ordering — par checks, counts, and vendor delivery verification. Respond to guest feedback — reviews and social DMs as assigned, escalating issues to the GM. Maintain a safe, respectful environment — enforce policies consistently across the team. Decision-Making Authority This role carries defined authority to keep shifts moving without waiting on GM sign-off for routine calls: Approve comps/credits resolve service issues Adjust floor plan, pacing, and 86 calls to protect service and quality Approve shift swaps and breaks within the posted schedule and labor targets Send staff home or call in backup within guardrails to meet demand Initiate corrective coaching and document write-ups; escalate final actions to the GM Requirements Must-Have 1-2+ years of experience as a restaurant shift lead or supervisor Strong floor leadership: pacing, guest recovery, and in-the-moment coaching Comfortable with POS systems, cash handling, scheduling basics, temperature logs, and checklists Current Food Handler certification Able to lift 40 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods Available nights, weekends, and holidays Clear communicator who stays calm under pressure and applies standards consistently and fairly Preferred Experience in Thai or other Asian cuisine restaurants Food Manager certification (or willingness to obtain)
