Job Description

Position Summary The Production Lead is paramount to the safety, efficiency, and quality of our food manufacturing operations. This role directly coordinates the activities of all production operators in their assigned department (Processing or Packing) to ensure production schedules are maintained. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Lead plans and prioritizes daily activities, represents the team in interdepartmental issues, and ensures that technical mastery and safety standards are upheld across the shift. Section 1: Core Responsibilities & Universal Requirements The following duties represent the baseline expectation to ensure operational continuity and compliance.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance Safety Leadership:
Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures, equipment, and LOTO compliance; execute all duties in a manner that upholds plant and environmental practices.
Regulatory Alignment:
Interacts with the Quality Assurance (QA) department daily to ensure all activities comply with FDA's Current Good Manufacturing Practices (21 CFR Part 117).
Non-Conformance:
Investigate the causes for nonconformances and assist the Supervisor with implementing effective countermeasures.
Operational Excellence and Leadership Operational Oversight:
Supervise operation start/finish times and manage the timing of changeovers, setups, and cleaning processes.
Resource Allocation:
Assist the Supervisor with operator assignments; schedule lunch and break times to ensure continuous line coverage.
Inventory & Materials:
Monitor inventory of raw/packaging materials; ensure correct materials and lot numbers are utilized (FIFO); manage ordering, tracking, and thawing processes.
Flexibility:
May occasionally work in place of operators (Tiers 1-4) due to illness, vacation, or operational surges to maintain production flow.
Note:
While the Lead has a primary departmental focus, they may be assigned to different areas or tasks based on their experience and the dynamic needs of the production plan.
Foundational Requirements Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED (Associate's Degree preferred).
Experience:
1-3 years of working experience in a manufacturing facility (Food or Pharma preferred).
Core Skills:
Sound judgment, basic math, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to demonstrate the highest level of customer service at all times.
Availability:
Weekend support is requested on a voluntary basis during periods of high production demand.
Physical Demands:
Capability for standing (8 hours), pushing/pulling heavy wheeled equipment, and performing manual manipulation of machine parts/ingredients. Position Summary Directly supervises and coordinates operators to ensure production schedules are met. Serves as the primary link between frontline operators and shift leadership. Personnel Management Manages operator attendance and discipline; conducts staff meetings; evaluates employee performance and prepares formal performance appraisals. Operational Planning In coordination with the Supervisor, plans and prioritizes daily activities to meet the production plan; monitors work-in-progress to ensure proper performance. Staff Development Participates in the hiring process (interviews/recommendations); counsels employees on career growth; identifies talent for cross-training and potential promotion. Conflict Resolution Resolves personnel problems, complaints, or formal grievances; escalates complex issues to higher management or HR when necessary.

Pay:
$25.25 per hour
