Job Description

Overview The Floor Manager supports the Food & Beverage in overseeing all clubhouse service operations, ensuring quality dining, bar, and event experiences for Surf Club members and guests. Responsible for assisting with recruiting, training, and supervising service staff, this role reinforces a member-centric, professional, and positive culture in keeping with the club's traditions. The Floor Manager assists in ensuring that members and guests have a pleasant and memorable dining experience. Supports monitoring daily setup, maintenance, cleanliness and safety of dining areas, bars and storage areas. Assists with comprehensive service training to standards of excellence. Supports coordination of food and beverage service between the kitchen, bar, and dining team. Assists with beverage operations including inventory, cost control, and adherence to budgetary guidelines. Key Member Service Standards In every interaction, the Floor Manager will model and support staff to deliver the following:
Warm, Sincere Greeting:
Welcome every member and guest with genuine warmth, using their name whenever possible.
Anticipation and Fulfillment of Needs:
Proactively observe and assist in anticipating opportunities to meet or exceed member expectations.
Fond Farewell:
Conclude each interaction with a warm farewell, again using the member's name whenever possible. Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - KSAs)
Knowledge:
Private club and upscale restaurant service standards; food and beverage operations; health and safety regulations; reservation and POS systems; Microsoft Office; procedures for event set-up, breakdown, and daily dining operations.
Skills:
Leadership and staff development support; organization, teaching, supervising, and communication skills; outstanding member service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution abilities; scheduling and operational planning.
Abilities:
Provide articulate, friendly, efficient, and punctual service. Multi-task and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate professionalism, positive attitude, and composure under pressure. Support and inspire staff to deliver exceptional, emotionally engaging member experiences. Adapt to changing needs and priorities, including flexible scheduling for days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overseeing all service staff in all outlets.
  • Support food and beverage service operation.
  • Assist with hiring, evaluating, and managing service staff compendium.
  • Anticipate members' needs and assist in ensuring service exceeds expectations.
  • Maintain timely and accurate communication with the Chef, Clubhouse Manager, Comptroller, Director of Food and Beverage, Pavilion Manager and General Manager.
  • Maintain dining room cleanliness, setups, chairs, tables, floors, and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance.
  • Support security of assets.
  • Assist with reservations, floor plans, and maintenance of the Club.
  • Be present and engaged in meeting and greeting members and invited guests.
  • Support enforcement of Club rules and regulations.
  • Assist with supervising and training service staff and maintaining uniform standards.
  • Ensure side work is completed and supplies are stocked.
  • Assist with daily line ups and shifts.
  • Train new hires in service standards, menus, and POS systems.
  • Assist with set up and breakdown.
  • Support service staff scheduling.
  • Assist with Club sponsored events.
  • Assist with merchandise management.
  • Cleanliness, sanitization and organization of Pavilion and surrounding areas.
Qualifications (Prerequisites) Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience) Minimum 2-4 years' experience in club, hospitality, or event operations with supervisory responsibilities. Demonstrated track record in delivering excellent member experiences. Required certifications (alcohol service, food safety, first aid/CPR). Working proficiency with standard office and club management software. Private club experience. Professional, articulate, friendly, and punctual. Possesses and exhibits the drive to provide exceptional member service. Full time flexible hours (days, nights, weekends, Holidays). Working knowledge of POS systems and Microsoft Office. Professional appearance/attire. Outstanding communication, teaching, and supervising skills. Have outstanding communication, teaching, and supervising skills.

  • Must have an excellent service attitude and go out of the way to accommodate members, guests, and staff.
  • Must make decisions based on what is best for the Club.

  • Must assist with handling complaints according to Club policies.
