House Manager

Job Description

A family based in Westchester County, NY is seeking a House Manager for two principals and their two young adult children who reside with them part-time. This multifaceted role offers a unique opportunity to act as a trusted assistant to the family while contributing to household operations, culinary and event support, and housekeeping oversight. The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-minded and adaptable, able to anticipate needs and confidently step into leadership responsibilities when required. This position involves regular interaction with the family and household team, occasional light cooking and chef support, event execution, and occasional travel to secondary homes including in-flight service aboard the family's private aircraft. A warm, down-to-earth personality and a collaborative spirit are essential in this hands-on, high-trust role.
What You Will Own:
Family Assistant Carry out multiple daily detailed inspections to proactively anticipate needs, address family priorities, and call out areas in need of repair or attention Daily coordination with principal's executive assistant team and driver to ensure fluid operations of family activities and travel arrangements Maintain pristine organization of the household Manage stock of household supplies Care for indoor plants & floral arrangements. Conduct family errands. Drive family locally as needed when family driver is unavailable Oversee departure and arrival during periods of travel, including assisting with packing and unpacking Carry out key duties and priorities in the absence of colleagues on property. Housekeeping Supervision Direct priorities of the housekeeping team. Conduct regular inspections throughout the day to assess the cleanliness, organization, and aesthetic needs of the home. Publish housekeeping schedules and re-adjust personnel time allocation (working hours) to ensure proper coverage tailored to family's needs Culinary and Event Support In the absence of the chef or kitchen assistant: provide light cooking, meal prep support and facilitate family meal service Daily collaboration with the chef on event planning, execution, and related project management. Daily assessment of food and beverage stock options in family kitchens. Daily partnering with the kitchen team to set tablescapes and prepare venues for family meals Travel Support Serve as primary back-up to primary cabin attendant onboard family's private aircraft. When traveling with principals on their private aircraft, provide all in-flight services. As requested, accompany the family to their out-of-state homes, coordinate with local staff, and care for the family's needs as directed. What You Bring Four (4) year college degree 7+ years of recent employment as full-time House Manager or similar role based in the primary residence of a family, including managing a housekeeping team within the home. Additionally, experience with aviation hospitality, yachting, and 5-start service environments is highly regarded. Warm, hospitality-centric ethos Well-versed in the proper care and maintenance of designer wardrobes, fine furnishings, furniture, artwork, and other high-value, irreplaceable items. Willingness and ability to step-in for chef and prepare simple, light meals and facilitate meal services as needed Strong project management and event planning skills Comfortable with household management software and capable of navigating smart home systems. Punctual, highly discreet, excellent etiquette, and very trustworthy. Team player with excellent organizational and communication skills. Must have own transportation. Confident driver with a clean driving license and strong situational awareness. Schedule Full-time, generally Monday-Friday, with regular flexibility to work evenings and weekends particularly when the family entertains and during warm-weather seasons. Reliable evening and weekend availability and a positive, can-do approach to schedule changes are essential to this role, not occasional accommodations. The household staff operates seven days a week, including all holidays, ensuring consistent coverage year-round. All team members are appreciated for their adaptability and commitment to being available as needed, including responsiveness on a 24/7 basis in service to the family.
Travel :
Domestic travel to secondary residences is a required, recurring part of this role.
Compensation :
Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits package (annual discretionary bonus, fully paid health insurance, generous PTO, and more).
Pay:
$125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
