THE ROLE
The Shift Manager is an hourly position with paid, practical management training. You work across two assigned Casa Garcia's restaurants, learning alongside experienced managers. Once you complete training and are approved to lead independently, you run assigned shifts as the sole Manager on Duty, leading the team and overseeing the restaurant during your shift. This role offers a path toward a Manager or General Manager position as you develop your skills and opportunities become available.
PAY AND SCHEDULE
Starting pay is $20 per hour. The schedule is 40 hours per week, with two shifts at each of two assigned restaurants. Shifts may include early morning openings, evenings, weekends, and closing duties. Exact start and finish times depend on the location and assigned shift. This is an hourly, nonexempt position.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Complete practical management training and demonstrate readiness before running shifts independently. Serve as Manager on Duty after training, directing the team and taking responsibility for service during your assigned shifts. Open or close the restaurant, check station readiness, verify closing work, and secure the building. Stay present on the floor, check on guests, and support the team throughout the shift. Coordinate with the host on seating, wait times, and table availability to keep guest flow steady and match seating to the team's capacity. Check food quality, presentation, and ticket times. Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to resolve delays or mistakes. Give clear direction before and during the shift. Coach employees respectfully and address concerns promptly. Handle guest complaints and use service recovery tools within company guidelines. Manage drawers, server checkouts, voids, comps, and deposits using company procedures. Adjust assignments and coordinate coverage when staffing changes during the shift. Follow food safety and alcohol service procedures and address unsafe conditions immediately. Communicate unresolved issues to the location manager. Follow emergency procedures and escalate serious incidents promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS
Restaurant experience preferred, especially experience training coworkers, leading a station, or helping coordinate a shift. An interest in restaurant management and a willingness to complete the required training. Hold a current Texas-recognized Certified Food Manager certificate before serving independently as the person in charge. Casa Garcia's also requires current TABC seller/server certification before independently supervising alcohol service. Comfort learning Toast POS, cash procedures, and scheduling tools. English communication skills sufficient to assist guests, direct the team, and communicate safety instructions. Spanish is a plus. Availability to work the assigned 40-hour schedule across two restaurant locations.
