Job Description

Farm Road is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hands-on Restaurant Manager to lead the front-of-house operations of our two restaurant concepts, Sawmill Bar & Table and Red Door Burger Co. Located in West Dover, Vermont, just minutes from Mount Snow, Farm Road is a growing, family-owned destination hospitality property situated on 45 acres and featuring lodging, restaurants, weddings, corporate retreats, private events, and year-round recreation. We are looking for a hospitality professional who enjoys being present on the floor, leading by example, developing a strong team, and creating an exceptional guest experience. For candidates relocating to Southern Vermont, relocation assistance and employer-supported housing options may be available based on individual needs and availability. Position Overview The Restaurant Manager will oversee the day-to-day front-of-house operations of both restaurant concepts and work closely with our Executive Chef, Food & Beverage leadership, General Manager, and Ownership team. This is a hands-on leadership position. The ideal candidate will be highly visible during service, comfortable jumping in wherever needed, and able to balance excellent hospitality with strong operational and financial discipline. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily front-of-house operations for Sawmill Bar & Table and Red Door Burger Co. Lead, train, schedule, motivate, and develop bartenders, servers, hosts, bussers, and other FOH team members. Maintain high standards for hospitality, cleanliness, organization, appearance, and professionalism. Be actively present on the restaurant floor during service and engage with guests. Resolve guest concerns quickly, professionally, and thoughtfully. Coordinate closely with the culinary team to maintain smooth and timely service. Manage opening and closing procedures and ensure proper cash-handling practices. Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management. Build efficient staff schedules based on business levels while monitoring labor costs. Monitor labor, beverage costs, restaurant expenses, and other key operating metrics. Help develop strategies to increase revenue, repeat business, guest satisfaction, and average check. Maintain appropriate inventory levels for beverages, restaurant supplies, and FOH operating materials. Ensure compliance with Vermont liquor laws, food-safety standards, and company policies. Maintain restaurant POS systems, reservations, guest communications, and daily reporting. Work collaboratively with Farm Road's Events Team during weddings, corporate retreats, private dinners, and special events. Assist with beverage programming, seasonal promotions, special dinners, and restaurant events. Establish clear standards and accountability throughout the FOH team. Help create a positive, professional workplace where employees enjoy coming to work and guests enjoy returning. What We're Looking For Previous restaurant management or strong assistant management experience. Experience managing a full-service restaurant, upscale-casual restaurant, resort, hotel, or similar hospitality operation preferred. Strong understanding of food and beverage service. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Proven ability to recruit, train, coach, and retain employees. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Understanding of labor management, scheduling, inventory, cost controls, and restaurant profitability. Comfortable handling guest concerns and making decisions in a fast-paced environment. Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented during busy services. Wine, beer, spirits, and cocktail knowledge is a plus. Experience with weddings, banquets, hotels, or special events is a plus. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak hospitality periods as required. The Right Person We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their operation. You should be the type of manager who notices when a guest needs attention, a table is not being cleared quickly enough, a bartender needs help, or a team member needs additional training—and addresses it. We value managers who are organized, accountable, positive, and willing to work alongside their team rather than simply directing from the sidelines.
