Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-Time vacancy to the Food Service Supervisor II classification. This vacancy exists in Nutrition Services Department, under the direction of the Dietetics Assistant Director. The Food Service Supervisor II responsibilities are: Direct, coordinate, and standardize the serving of food of a State Hospital. Supervise and instruct employees and patient helpers in the distribution and service of food. Supervise the preparation for meal service, including arrangement of serving areas, presentation, portion control, and proper serving temperatures following Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles, to ensure safe, high-quality, and visually appealing meals. Participate in quality improvement programs and meetings to continuously enhance food service operations and align with institutional goals. Monitor and ensure modified diets and therapeutic diets are served correctly, to protect the health and wellbeing of patients with medical dietary needs. Instruct, lead, or supervise patients and do other work as required. Be responsible for the maintenance of equipment and supplies. Monitor food service in the cafeterias including temperature management of food and sanitation of utensils, equipment, and work areas. Oversee and maintain inventory of supplies, food and kitchen equipment, to prevent shortages and ensure uninterrupted meal service. Stay current in the application of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point principles. Work closely with Supervising Cook I and Food Manager for quality improvement in entire meal service operation. Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings and provide feedback and direction to subordinate supervisors, to promote effective communication and maintain alignment with departmental goals. Evaluate employee performance, document work performance, and take/recommend appropriate action, including progressive discipline, to foster accountability and support professional development. - 1930) and schedule in a variety of settings and security areas throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital.
