The ideal candidate is extremely organized, detail oriented, FLEXIBLE, able to multi-task, discreet and outgoing. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment where each day may be different than the next. We are a small team so you must be a team-player and willing to assist in duties outside of the job description when required. Duties As Shift Leader you will oversee the daily dietary needs, and the security and cleanliness of their enclosures. As well as lead a shift of volunteers assisting you in completing animal care tasks. Refill feed cans, food bowls, pools, water bowls. Muck and clean pens. Maintain feed inventory. Prepare individual diets. Train and lead a team of shift volunteers. Regularly communicate with volunteers and other shift leads, both in person and in text, to ensure all daily and tasks are being completed. As Resident Animal Care provider will be responsible for working closely with the rehab staff to ensure the health and well-being of our residents. Communicate with rehab staff any animals requiring care. Schedule and coordinate routine medical care including vaccinations and deworming. Maintain accurate records in data base. Schedule care with outside vendors including veterinarians and farriers. Oversee habitat development and enrichment opportunities. All staff is required to assist with daily house chores including laundry, dishes, preparation of produce and general facility upkeep. Ideal Candidate Experience with animal care, preferably within a rescue or rehab setting. Experience with livestock, birds, reptiles, or songbirds is a plus. Non-profit or volunteer experience preferred. Supervisory skills a bonus. This is a position that requires a lot of physical labor. Must be able to lift 30 lbs unassisted and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. This position will require some nights, weekends and holidays as scheduling dictates. •
