Job Description

Supervisor of Food & Nutrition New Vista Nursing is a 340 Bed Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility now looking for a Professional Supervisor of Food & Nutrition. Assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency of operations. Ensures that high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen areas at all times. Periodically visits dining area and communicates with residents, visitors and family members for food related feedback. Must possess leadership qualities and the willingness to work harmoniously with/and supervise non-professional personnel. Ensure a safe working environment and attitude on the part of all employees in areas of responsibility. Supervises serving of meals. Handle menu requirements and prepare appropriate production sheets and resident tickets. Handle shift schedules for food service workers and assign them tasks on a daily basis Ensure that food items are stored in a safe and sanitary manor using FIFO method. Maintains and enforces compliance with the food service departments policies and procedures. Ability to maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, regular inspection of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties in absence of the Director of Food Service. Assists management to ensure correct and adequate coverage on each shift. Monitors subordinate employees and ensures schedules and work duties are completed. Establishes daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules and supervises observation of this process. Ensures the safe operation, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment. Inspects work completed to ensure standard of quality including proper storage, proper temperatures, proper labeling, and dating of foods. Performs the opening checklist functions to ensure that the facility is ready for the daily operation. Properly secures all Food and Nutrition Department supplies, equipment, and cash at the end of each shift.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to interact positively with administration, coworkers, members, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach. Ability to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality. Knowledge of matrix care (Meal Tracker) menu program a plus.
Requirements:
2-3 years of experience in long term care setting. Proficient Computer Skills. Serv Safe Must have the training, experience, and ability to direct the total food service operation.
