This role plays a key part in ensuring the proper cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen equipment, utensils, dishware, glassware, and food preparation areas while supporting efficient culinary and banquet operations. The Stewarding Lead works closely with Food & Beverage, Culinary, and Banquet teams to ensure operational readiness, uphold sanitation standards, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Responsibilities:
- Lead and support stewarding colleagues in maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout kitchen, dishwashing, storage, and food preparation areas
- Oversee the cleaning, sanitizing, and proper storage of dishes, glassware, flatware, cookware, and kitchen equipment
- Assign daily tasks and provide guidance to stewarding colleagues to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to Hyatt standards
- Coordinate with Culinary and Banquet teams to ensure dishware, glassware, utensils, equipment, and supplies are available and ready for service and special events
- Monitor stewarding operations to ensure compliance with sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety standards
- Assist with training colleagues on cleaning procedures, chemical handling, equipment use, and safe work practices
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding equipment and communicate replenishment needs
- Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling practices while maintaining clean and clutter-free work areas
- Identify and report maintenance, sanitation, and safety concerns in a timely manner
- Support banquet setup and breakdown needs and assist with post-event cleanup operations
- Promote Hyatt's Culture of Care through teamwork, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Qualifications:
- Prior stewarding, kitchen, food and beverage, or hospitality experience preferred
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Self-starting personality with a professional demeanor and positive attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, and leadership
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Must be willing to pitch in and assist coworkers with operational needs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate to heavy amount of weight, minimum of 50 pounds
