Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of the dietary department
- Oversee food service activities and ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents or patients
- Manage inventory and order food supplies as needed
- Train and supervise dietary staff in food preparation and service
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and dining areas
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to address dietary needs and restrictions of residents or patients
- Ensure compliance with dietary regulations and guidelines
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a food service or dietary management role
- Strong knowledge of food service operations, including food preparation, menu planning, and inventory management
- Familiarity with dietary regulations and guidelines, such as those set by the FDA or USDA
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage a team and coordinate multiple tasks
Skills:
- Cooking skills: Ability to prepare meals that meet nutritional requirements and taste preferences
- Management skills: Ability to oversee staff, delegate tasks, and ensure efficient operations
- Food service experience: Knowledge of best practices in food service, including portion control, meal presentation, and customer service
- Shift management: Ability to schedule staff, manage work shifts, and ensure adequate coverage
- Restaurant management: Understanding of restaurant operations, including inventory management, cost control, and customer satisfaction
- Food preparation: Proficiency in preparing meals according to dietary guidelines and restrictions
- Dietary department knowledge: Familiarity with the functions and responsibilities of a dietary department in a healthcare or senior living setting
- Food safety: Knowledge of proper food handling procedures, sanitation standards, and HACCP principles
