This position supports both dining-room service and kitchen operations by serving meals to residents, assisting with basic food preparation, and maintaining a clean and welcoming dining environment. The ideal candidate is patient, organized, attentive to detail, and committed to providing respectful service while following residents' dietary needs and food-safety requirements. Responsibilities Greet residents warmly and provide friendly, respectful, and attentive meal service Set up the dining room before meals and clean tables and service areas afterward Serve meals, snacks, and beverages according to established schedules Verify that each resident receives the correct meal based on dietary restrictions, allergies, and texture-modified diet requirements Assist residents with meal selections and notify caregiving staff when additional assistance is needed Deliver meal trays to residents who are unable to eat in the dining room Assist the Cook with basic food preparation, portioning, plating, and meal presentation Prepare simple meals or snacks when directed Refill beverages and encourage proper hydration Collect dishes, clear tables, and wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment Maintain the kitchen, dining room, food-preparation areas, and storage spaces clean and organized Follow proper procedures for food handling, labeling, storage, sanitation, and temperature control Monitor and document food and refrigerator temperatures when assigned Assist with receiving deliveries, organizing supplies, and rotating inventory Communicate resident concerns, appetite changes, or meal-related issues to the appropriate staff Follow all facility policies, infection-control procedures, and food-safety regulations Qualifications Previous experience in an Assisted Living Facility, nursing home, senior-living community, dietary department, restaurant, or food-service setting is preferred Basic food-preparation and kitchen skills Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures Familiarity with special diets, food allergies, portion control, and texture-modified meals is preferred Strong communication and customer-service skills Ability to follow menus, dietary instructions, and meal schedules accurately Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple responsibilities during meal service Ability to stand for extended periods and lift food trays, supplies, and kitchen items as needed Compassionate, patient, dependable, and professional demeanor Ability to work independently and as part of a team Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred Current food-handler certification or willingness to obtain one Benefits Competitive pay Flexible scheduling Supportive and professional work environment Opportunities for growth Paid training and continuing education opportunities, if applicable Apply Today If you enjoy working with seniors and are passionate about providing excellent meal service in a caring environment, we encourage you to apply and join our Assisted Living Facility team.
