Job Description
Job Overview Server The purpose of this position is to retain our guests by ensuring they have a great experience when dining at Georgia Blue. Georgia Blue servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in an efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guests' needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed. You must be able to relate to guests' and establish relationships while maintaining an outgoing and friendly personality. General Responsibilities Prepare tables; lay out silverware, make sure the condiments are refilled, perform all other preparation tasks. Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties, and menu deviations. Know if the kitchen staff is running out of any items...etc. Present menus; suggest dishes, assist in drink selection, inform guests' about food preparation details, communicate specific customer needs to the cooks. Must have basic knowledge of common food allergies; know how and what to recommend to these guests. Maintain proper dining experience by displaying teamwork, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses and always assisting with side work. Learn your guests' names, occupations, and favorite drinks. This will make Georgia Blue a special place for them and they will continue to return. Properly open and pour wine at the tableside. Obtain revenues, issue receipts, accept payments and return change. Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor. Fill in for absent staff as needed. Assist with special events as needed. Greet all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting. Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently. Understand and communicate products available at the restaurant. Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills. Must take and pass the menu test by the end of training. Employees have two opportunities to take and pass the menu tests. Failure to do so may result in termination.
