Bistro Maison — McMinnville, OregonFull-time | Tuesday-Saturday | Immediate opening About Bistro Maison Bistro Maison is an independently owned French restaurant serving McMinnville since 2002. We offer polished, knowledgeable hospitality in an intimate, lively French bistro setting. Service is fast-paced, personalized, collaborative, and sales-driven. Position We are seeking an experienced professional server for a permanent, full-time position. At least two years of recent experience in an upscale, chef-driven, independently owned restaurant or comparable high-quality à la carte establishment is required. Our average guest spend is approximately $70-$90 per person, built through à la carte selections, typically three courses with cocktails and wine. Servers must confidently guide guests through the menu, describe dishes, recommend cocktails, wines, pairings, and additional courses, and create a complete dining experience through gracious, professional salesmanship. You will work with a highly qualified kitchen and service team that supports each member's strengths and contributes to coordinated service. Responsibilities Provide warm, polished, personalized hospitality Guide guests through the à la carte menu and describe dishes accurately Recommend cocktails, wines, pairings, additional courses, sides, and desserts Perform proper wine presentation, opening, and bottle service Pace three-course meals appropriately Read tables, anticipate needs, and adjust service style and timing Manage multiple tables and accurate guest checks during busy service Balance salesmanship with genuine hospitality Assist with opening, closing, stocking, and dining-room duties Required Qualifications At least two years of recent upscale à la carte serving experience Experience at a restaurant averaging approximately $70-$90 per guest Strong food and wine knowledge, including pairing recommendations Experience with polished wine and bottle service Demonstrated professional sales ability Dependable attendance and reliable transportation Full availability Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 3:00 p.m. through the completion of service Availability for major holidays within our operating schedule Valid Oregon Food Handler Card and OLCC Alcohol Service Permit by the first training day Experience primarily in corporate chains, banquet facilities, private clubs, breakfast restaurants, or senior-living dining generally will not meet the required level of upscale à la carte, wine, sales, and coursed-service experience. Schedule Full-time, five nights per week Tuesday through Saturday Beginning at 3:00 p.m. through the completion of service Permanent, ongoing position; not seasonal Immediate start with paid training Closed on Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. Annual Winter Closure Bistro Maison will be closed from December 27, 2026, through February 4, 2027, reopening for dinner service on February 5, 2027. No regularly scheduled restaurant shifts will be available during this closure.
Compensation Paid training:
First five training shifts: $20per hour Training shifts six through ten: $30 per hour After training: Applicable Oregon minimum wage plus an allocated share of service charges A 20% service charge is applied to guest checks and distributed among the team according to the restaurant's allocation system. Base wages and service-charge distributions typically total approximately $40-50 per hour on an average service night ; this is an estimate, not a guaranteed rate. Optional gratuities are distributed to legally eligible employees and included in the weekly service-charge payment. Physical Requirements With or without reasonable accommodation, you must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, carry multiple plates and glassware, navigate stairs for private events and a busy dining room, bend and reach, and occasionally lift wine cases, ice bins, and similar supplies.
