Head Coach - Unified Strength and Conditioning
Job Description:
The North Middlesex School District is seeking a Head Coach for Unified Strength and Conditioning to lead a program designed to support all student-athletes, including those with and without disabilities. This program focuses on developing physical fitness, strength, conditioning, coordination, and overall wellness in an inclusive environment. The Head Coach will oversee the planning, implementation, and supervision of all training sessions, fostering a safe, supportive, and motivating environment. The ideal candidate will combine knowledge of athletic training, adaptive fitness strategies, and inclusive coaching practices to help every student-athlete reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Planning Develop and implement a year-round unified strength and conditioning program that supports all student-athletes. Create structured workouts that address strength, endurance, flexibility, speed, agility, and overall athletic development. Adapt exercises and training plans to accommodate diverse abilities and ensure inclusivity. Maintain detailed records of athlete participation, progress, and performance improvements. Coaching & Mentorship Serve as a mentor and role model for all participants, promoting leadership, teamwork, confidence, and self-discipline. Provide instruction and guidance on proper technique, injury prevention, and safe use of equipment. Encourage goal-setting, personal growth, and consistency in training habits. Foster positive relationships among athletes, creating a supportive and collaborative team culture. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with the Athletic Director, school staff, and other coaches to align the program with broader athletic and wellness initiatives. Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and staff about program goals, athlete progress, and safety measures. Coordinate with physical education staff, coaches, and therapists to ensure a comprehensive and cohesive approach to student-athlete development. Safety & Compliance Ensure all workouts and activities adhere to safety standards, proper form, and equipment usage guidelines. Monitor athletes for signs of overexertion, injury risk, or health concerns and respond appropriately. Maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant safety training. Uphold all North Middlesex School District policies and relevant MIAA or NFHS regulations as applicable.
Qualifications:
Required:
Experience coaching or leading strength and conditioning programs, preferably in a school or athletic environment. Knowledge of strength training, conditioning principles, and adaptive fitness techniques. Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes, including those with disabilities. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to model safe, effective, and inclusive training practices.
Preferred:
Certification in strength and conditioning (CSCS, NASM, ACE, or equivalent). Experience with Unified Sports or inclusive athletic programs. Background in athletic training, physical education, or related field. Experience mentoring student-athletes in both physical and social-emotional development.
Salary:
Per North Middlesex Regional School District Coach Stipend Schedule or program allocation.
