This position is responsible for reviewing participant information, processing retirement benefits, maintaining accurate records, and assisting participants with questions throughout the retirement process. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with numbers, and enjoys helping people. This position involves handling confidential information and requires accuracy, professionalism, and strong communication skills. Primary Responsibilities Respond to telephone, email, and written inquiries regarding pension benefits, eligibility, retirement options, and the Pension Fund. Explain benefit information and available options to participants and retirees in a clear and professional manner. Maintain accurate records for active and retired participants. Review reported hours and verify vesting, eligibility, reciprocity, pro-rata reciprocity, and forfeiture of benefits. Calculate and process retirement benefits, monthly retirement income payments, and Retirement Savings Plan distributions. Assist retirees with questions regarding their Retiree HRA and other benefit-related matters. Monitor and communicate regarding benefit overpayments and underpayments, including sending correspondence and tracking outstanding items. Assist participants and beneficiaries with questions regarding death benefits, life insurance, beneficiary Health & Welfare coverage, divorces, and division of benefits. Process and maintain records related to QDROs, IRS levies, child support orders, and other pension attachments. Maintain participant files, check registers, agreement files, and other department records. Assist with regular mail processing, special mailings, and returned mail. Protect confidential participant information and ensure compliance with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements. Work closely with the Pension Supervisor and other staff to resolve participant questions and ensure benefits are processed accurately and timely. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong math and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work professionally with participants and retirees. Basic computer skills; experience with AS400 and online services is a plus. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent attendance and punctuality.
