Job Description

Position Summary:

The Workforce Training & Internship Coordinator advances the Lakes Region Mental Health Center (LRMHC) mission through the coordination and support of internship, practicum, employee training, onboarding, professional development, and workforce development programs. This position supports LRMHC's commitment to providing high-quality, accessible, person-centered behavioral health services and will assist in meeting applicable Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) requirements. The Coordinator acts as the workforce development liaison and resource among internal and external stakeholders: organizational leadership and staff, colleges and universities, community partners, trainers and subject matter experts, collaborating to ensure alignment of organizational priorities, employee roles, regulatory requirements, and CCBHC expectations. Essential Functions 1. Internship Program Management Develop, coordinate, and maintain LRMHC internship and practicum training programs. Serve as the primary contact for colleges, universities, students, faculty, and field-placement coordinators. Establish and maintain relationships with behavioral health and healthcare workforce development undergraduate and graduate programs. Coordinate and maintain affiliation agreements and other required documentation with educational institutions. Coordinate the student placement process from initial inquiry through completion. Work with LRMHC program leaders to identify appropriate internship and practicum opportunities. Ensure students complete required organizational requirements before beginning internship. Develop and maintain organized, accurate records of all internship activities: placements, required training, evaluations, supervision, and completion. Facilitate communication between students, supervisors, academic programs, and HR. Assist with internship-related concerns and appropriately escalates clinical, safety, performance, or compliance matters. Maintain relationships and identify opportunities for recruitment of qualified interns into permanent LRMHC positions. 2. Workforce Competency Support Support organizational training, professional development, and CCBHC workforce development processes, including: Develop and maintain annual employee training and professional development calendar. Maintain systems for assigning, tracking, and documentation of employee training. Ensure consistency with LRMHC policy, regulatory and funding requirements, CCBHC expectations, and workforce needs. Collaborate with organizational leadership to identify gaps and training priorities for their teams. Coordinate internal and external trainers, consultants, subject matter experts, and educational partners. Maintain training materials, curricula, presentations, and educational resources. Coordinate continuing education (CEUs) and professional development opportunities. Maintain documentation of training completion, continuing education, certifications, and applicable Clinical competency, interpretation of regulatory requirements, clinical standards, and approval of clinical training content is the responsibility of the appropriate LRMHC leadership, rather than the Coordinator. 3. Learning and Compliance Management Maintain knowledge of organizational training requirements and applicable workforce development expectations. Coordinate administration of LRMHC's Learning Management System (LMS) and maintain accurate, confidential, and retrievable training records within the system. Maintain and assign required employee training assignments and learning pathways based on position, department, credentials, and job responsibilities and regularly review for accuracy and relevance. Monitor completion and follow up with employees on any outstanding requirements. Generate reports for HR, department leadership, QI, and other authorized personnel, communicating any deficiencies to appropriate supervisors. Assist employees and supervisors with LMS questions and troubleshooting. Coordinate with vendors when technical or content-related issues arise. Assist in the preparation of audits, accreditation and CCBHC reviews, grant monitoring, and regulatory reporting as requested. Ensure documentation is maintained in accordance with LRMHC policy and retention requirements. Escalate compliance, safety, credentialing, or competency concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Protect confidential employee, student, patient and organizational information. 4. Workforce Development & Recruitment Develop relationships with colleges, universities, and programs that prepare behavioral health professionals for the workforce. Participate in career fairs, internship and recruitment events, and educational outreach activities. Develop strategies to encourage successful interns to pursue employment with LRMHC. Support workforce development initiatives designed to address hard-to-fill behavioral health positions. Assist with community partnerships that expand access to behavioral health education, internships, and career opportunities. 5. Evaluation & Quality Improvement Assist with evaluation of training effectiveness through completion data, employee feedback, surveys, competency-related measures, and other appropriate methods. Develop and maintain processes for evaluation of internship program effectiveness. Track training participation and completion trends. Identify potential gaps in training and professional development. Collaborate with program leadership on training-related improvement initiatives. Make recommendations for improving training content, delivery, accessibility, and effectiveness.

Identifies and implements opportunities to improve training, internship programs, and workforce-development processes.

Professional Judgment & Confidentiality:

Exercises sound professional judgment, maintain confidentiality, and recognize issues requiring escalation to appropriate clinical, compliance, HR, or executive leadership.

Technology:

Proficient with Microsoft Office and comparable technology platforms.

Education and Experience :

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; master's degree preferred. Two to four years of experience in healthcare, clinical services, behavioral health, workforce development, training, or a related field.

Preferred:

Healthcare or clinical experience; experience with colleges, universities, or professional schools; Relias LMS experience; and experience with accreditation, regulatory, or compliance activities.
