  • Job Description The HR Manager will oversee and guide the staffing of qualified personnel while ensuring compliance with employment statutes.
This role involves managing wages, benefits, workers' compensation, unemployment, and other related responsibilities. Additionally, the director will lead training programs, implement organizational strategies such as the annual review and update of the employee handbook, and administer employee relations, coaching, counseling, and discipline. Responsibilities Staff qualified personnel to meet organizational needs. Ensure compliance with all employment statutes and regulations. Oversee management of wages, benefits, workers' compensation, and unemployment. Direct training programs and implement organizational strategies. Conduct annual reviews and updates of the employee handbook. Administer employee relations including coaching, counseling, and discipline. Essential Skills At least 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a museum or related industry, or a 4-year college degree with at least 4 years of related experience. SPHR certification preferred. Previous supervisory experience. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. High level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues. Proficiency in HRIS systems such as Paylocity. Knowledgeable in employment laws. Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Word. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to evaluate and select alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. Effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving concerns and issues. Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and perform basic arithmetic functions. Work Environment The work environment is dynamic, requiring flexibility and a positive disposition. The role demands strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The Director will work with various software, including HRIS systems and MS Office Suite, in a team-oriented atmosphere while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
