Human Resources Representative Confidential Search | Full-Time | Auburn/Opelika Area About the Opportunity A well-established, growing small company is looking for an experienced Human Resources Representative to join its team. This is a confidential search. The company's name will be shared with qualified candidates later in the interview process. This role suits a hands-on HR generalist who likes variety. You'll be the go-to person for HR work across the whole employee lifecycle, from hiring and onboarding to payroll, compliance and employee relations. In a small company, your work has a visible, direct effect on the business and its people. Key Responsibilities Recruiting & Onboarding Manage full-cycle recruiting: write job descriptions, post openings, source and screen candidates, schedule interviews, and extend offers Work with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and set interview plans Run background checks, reference checks and pre-employment paperwork Coordinate new-hire onboarding and orientation so employees get a smooth first day, week and month Keep the applicant tracking system and candidate records up to date Compliance Keep the company compliant with federal, state and local employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, COBRA and OSHA Complete and audit Form I-9s and manage E-Verify, if applicable Keep required postings, notices and filings current Maintain accurate, confidential personnel files and HR records Track changes in employment law and recommend policy updates Payroll Administration Process payroll accurately and on time, whether in-house or through a third-party provider Maintain timekeeping records, PTO accruals, deductions and wage changes Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee pay questions Coordinate with accounting on payroll reconciliation, tax filings and year-end reporting (W-2s) Benefits Administration Administer health, dental, vision, life, disability and retirement plans Coordinate open enrollment and act as the main contact with benefits brokers and carriers Handle enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations and COBRA notices Employee Relations & Policy Serve as a trusted, approachable resource for employees and managers Help investigate and resolve workplace concerns fairly and confidentially Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies Support performance review cycles, disciplinary documentation and offboarding, including exit interviews HR Operations & Culture Maintain the HRIS and produce HR reports and metrics as needed Support training programs, including required harassment prevention training Help plan employee engagement, recognition and retention initiatives Take on special projects as the company grows Company Administrative/Office Management In addition to all HR responsibilities, this individual will also be responsible for overall office management, even outside of HR. Qualifications 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a small company (under 50 employees) where you covered a broad range of HR functions Hands-on experience with full-cycle recruiting and payroll processing Solid working knowledge of federal and state employment law Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Paylocity,Quickbooks or similar) Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, especially Excel or Sheets Comfort with IT as it relates to employee records and web based systems. Excellent discretion and judgment with confidential information Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage many priorities Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:

Pay:
