Summary Description The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the organization while fostering a positive, engaging, and compliant workplace. This position is responsible for managing a wide range of human resources functions throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, HRIS administration, compliance, and employee support. Working closely with company leadership, department managers, payroll, and our benefits broker, the Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted resource for employees and helps ensure HR processes are efficient, organized, and compliant with employment laws and company policies. The ideal candidate is highly organized, approachable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, as bilingual communication skills are considered a valuable asset. Specific Responsibilities The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all duties listed and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Coordinate the full-cycle recruiting process, including posting positions, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and assisting hiring managers throughout the hiring process. Coordinate all onboarding activities, including offer letters, new hire paperwork, orientation, employment verification, and ensuring new employees have a positive onboarding experience. Manage employee offboarding, including exit paperwork, benefit notifications, equipment coordination, final documentation, and exit interviews. Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollments, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and responding to employee benefit questions while partnering with the company's benefits broker. Maintain BambooHR platform, ensuring employee records, workflows, reporting, and documentation remain accurate and up to date. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, paid time off, leave requests, and other HR-related matters. Maintain confidential employee personnel files and HR records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Assist with administration of employee leaves of absence, including
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, military leave, and other protected leave programs. Coordinate pre-employment processes, including background checks, drug screens, employment verifications, and new hire documentation. Assist leadership with employee relations concerns by providing guidance, documentation, and recommendations while maintaining confidentiality. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, labor regulations, and company policies. Assist with updating employee handbooks, HR policies, procedures, and forms as laws and business needs evolve. Prepare HR reports, employment metrics, and employee data for leadership as requested. Coordinate employee recognition programs, wellness initiatives, engagement activities, and company events. Coordinate required compliance training and assist with employee development opportunities. Assist with unemployment claims, workers' compensation administration, employment verifications, and other HR administrative processes. Build and maintain relationships with colleges, job boards, community organizations, and recruiting resources to support hiring initiatives. Provide administrative support for Human Resources projects and organizational initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the organization. Technology Requirements The following programs and software are preferred for this position. Training will be provided where appropriate. BambooHR Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) Microsoft Teams Adobe Acrobat Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) Payroll and Benefits Administration Platforms Education & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Two to five years of Human Resources experience with exposure to recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, HR compliance, and HRIS management. Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and team members.
