Job Description
Crow Wing Recycling is a family-owned business that buys, processes and sells scrap metals—ferrous and nonferrous—from automobiles, trucks, appliances, machines that are generated by industry through construction or deconstruction of facilities. The Human Resources Generalist is a hands-on HR practitioner responsible for the day-to-day delivery and administration of human resources programs, policies, and employee support across CW Companies. This role is designed for an optimistic problem solver who enjoys doing the work , not simply advising from the sidelines. The HR Generalist builds strong relationships with employees and leaders, identifies practical solutions, follows issues through to completion, and ensures HR processes are executed accurately, consistently, and on time. The successful individual will be highly organized, detail oriented, responsive, approachable, and comfortable balancing employee needs, company expectations, compliance requirements, and changing business priorities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administer compensation and benefit plans Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training & development initiatives Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies Undertake tasks around performance management Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates Organize quarterly and annual employee performance reviews Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities Ensure compliance with labor regulations Benefits Administration Administer employee benefit programs and serve as a primary employee resource for benefit-related questions Coordinate new-hire benefit enrollment, annual open enrollment, qualifying life-event changes, employee terminations, and COBRA-related processes. Ensure benefit enrollment, change, and termination information is complete, accurate, and submitted to carriers and vendors within required deadlines Verify completion of benefit transactions and proactively resolve enrollment discrepancies or outstanding items Educate employees regarding benefit programs, enrollment processes, deadlines, and available resources Support compliance with applicable benefit requirements, including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, and other applicable federal and state regulations Coordinate with payroll to ensure benefit deductions and employee elections are accurately reflected Performance Management & Training Advise managers regarding employee performance concerns, performance documentation, corrective action, and related HR practices Review performance-related documentation that may lead to discipline or termination and provide guidance regarding consistency and appropriate process Deliver established company policy, compliance, and statutory training as assigned Support supervisors in identifying training needs and resources that contribute to employee success. HR Administration & Records Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential personnel records, and other required HR documentation Complete employment and wage verifications for current and former employees Maintain accurate HR data and ensure employee status changes are communicated to payroll and other appropriate parties in a timely manner Maintain current and historical job descriptions in coordination with leadership Identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and the employee experience. Skills Proven experience as an HR Generalist Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures Good knowledge of employment/labor laws Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. PeopleSoft) will be a plus Excellent communication and people skills Aptitude in problem-solving Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach BSc/BA in Business administration or relevant field is preferred Additional HR training will be a plus'
