Position Summary The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting all aspects of the employee lifecycle while ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Serving as a trusted resource for both employees and management, this role helps foster a positive, high-performing culture through recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management. The ideal candidate is approachable, highly organized, solution-oriented, and committed to balancing genuine compassion with professional accountability. Essential Responsibilities 1. Recruitment & Onboarding Manage full-cycle recruiting for office, sales, and field/installation positions across multiple locations. Coordinate and participate in interviews alongside hiring managers. Oversee pre-employment processes, including background checks, reference checks, and drug screening logistics. Prepare offer letters, wage structures, and onboarding documentation. Lead new employee orientations and ensure a seamless, welcoming onboarding experience for every new hire. 2. Employee Relations & Culture Serve as the primary point of contact for daily employee questions, feedback, and concerns. Build strong, trust-based relationships across all departments and locations. Coach and assist managers with employee development, documentation, performance improvement plans, and corrective actions. Conduct objective workplace investigations when necessary, ensuring thorough documentation and fair resolution. Maintain complete confidentiality and professionalism in all sensitive employee matters. 3. Benefits & Leave Administration Administer employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.). Assist employees with enrollment, life events, and general benefit questions. Coordinate annual open enrollment activities and communications. Manage leave programs, including
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, Workers' Compensation claims, and unemployment filings. 4. Compliance & HR Administration Maintain up-to-date compliance with federal and state regulations across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Maintain accurate employee personnel files, medical folders, and HR documentation. Manage the HRIS database to ensure accurate data entry, tracking, and reporting. Partner with accounting/payroll to ensure employee data, status changes, and pay updates are precise and timely. Assist leadership with policy development, employee handbook updates, and safety/OSHA postings. 5. Performance & Employee Engagement Coordinate performance evaluation cycles and review processes. Support employee recognition initiatives and company-wide milestone celebrations. Plan and execute employee engagement activities, team-building events, and company meetings. Support continuous training and professional development opportunities for staff and management.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
3+ years of progressive HR experience required.
Knowledge:
Deep understanding of full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, benefits administration, and employment law. Strong knowledge of federal and tri-state (OH, PA, WV) labor regulations.
Skills:
Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Certifications:
SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred, but not required.
