Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist supports the full employee lifecycle for Wave Aquatics, from recruitment and hiring through onboarding, supporting performance reviews, and recordkeeping. This role implements the recruitment process for full and part-time positions, supporting hiring managers and teams through interviews. The position may propose, design or provide input on a variety of HR processes and will be responsible for maintaining Wave's HRIS. The Specialist will support staff within our multi-site organization, with a mix of full-time staff (20-30 individuals) and part-time staff (varies seasonally, but averages about 100 individuals) working in a variety of roles. The Specialist should be particularly skilled in interviewing, onboarding and supporting team members who are new to the workforce. This is a part-time position budgeted for 15-20 hours per week on average, with a schedule to be mutually agreed upon. Generally, the position should plan to work 3-5 days per week and be available to work at least 2 afternoons each week to student candidates. This position may work from a combination of sites, including the Juanita Aquatics Center, Redmond Pool, Wave's Administrative Office in downtown Redmond and remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement recruitment processes for all positions, from job posting through offer. Conduct interviews and support hiring managers and teams throughout the interview process. Perform background checks and reference checks for candidates and employees. Coordinate regularly with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and select qualified candidates. Support onboarding new staff, ensuring a smooth and welcoming start to employment with Wave. Maintain Wave's HRIS, keeping employee profiles current and ensuring required paperwork is complete and compliant. Support staff performance review processes. Monitor staff hours and tenure for pay raise eligibility and work with supervisors to implement pay raises. Support benefits administration for staff. Work with the Executive Director and the organization's fractional HR consultant to create and enforce HR policies. Work strategically to support employee training, recognition and wellness initiatives, growing Wave's support of staff.
Direct Reports:
None Minimum Qualifications:
Prior experience in human resources role, ideally including recruitment and HRIS administration Working knowledge of employment law, background/reference check practices, and HR compliance requirements Experience conducting interviews and coordinating hiring processes with multiple hiring managers. Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Commitment to supporting a diverse workforce.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting HR functions for a nonprofit or multi-site organization. Proficient with
Google Workspace and BambooHR Work Environment:
This role is primarily administrative office work, with regular interaction with staff across our managed facilities. Some evening or weekend availability may occasionally be needed to support hiring or staff needs. 50-75% of work may be conducted remotely within the State of Washington. We anticipate 25% of hours on a regular basis will need to be in-person, with up to 50% of time in person during peak hiring season.
