Job Description

Salem University is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Student Life Coordinator to enhance the student experience by developing and facilitating a diverse calendar of events that foster both social and academic engagement. This position will serve as a vital connection between students, faculty, and administration, ensuring a vibrant and inclusive campus culture for both on-campus and online students. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, creative, and passionate about student engagement.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Engagement & Event Planning:
Develop and implement a robust schedule of events and activities for students at the Salem, WV campus that promotes social interaction, academic enrichment, and student well-being. Design and facilitate engagement opportunities tailored to the needs of online students to enhance their connection to the university. Partner with various university departments, including Career Access, to provide programming that supports student career development and professional growth. Serve as a liaison for Student Government , assisting with planning meetings, initiatives, and events to support student advocacy and leadership development.
Transportation & Logistics:
Coordinate and maintain student shuttle services to the Pittsburgh airport and local towns as needed, ensuring reliable and safe transportation for students. Develop and oversee shuttle schedules in alignment with student needs and university programming. Manage relationships with transportation providers and ensure compliance with university policies and safety regulations.
Administrative & Support Duties:
Collaborate with university leadership, faculty, and staff to enhance student involvement and retention efforts. Maintain accurate records of student participation, event success metrics, and budget allocation for student life activities. Assist in marketing and promoting student activities through digital and print media, social media platforms, and campus-wide announcements.
  • Ensure all events and initiatives align with university policies and support the overall mission of Salem University.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Experience in student programming, event planning, or campus life coordination in a higher education setting.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, faculty, and staff
    • Proficiency in using event management software, social media, and communication platforms.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by events and shuttle schedules.
    ENVIRONMENT
    The University environment is dynamic and goal-oriented, always requiring high performance standards and multitasking responsibilities. This position requires the ability to provide oversight and develop others to provide high quality education and student support. The position works effectively with all University's departments, students and staff and provides leadership for successful work and educational activities of the University.
    Pay:
    $32,000.00 - $38,000.00 per year
