We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive individual that is looking to become involved in caring for animals. We are currently looking for the right person to start immediately. Hours may include Sunday through Saturday, 7:30 am to 12 pm and 3pm to 7pm. This is a part time position expected to involve 25-30 hours per week. Kennel attendants should expect to work every other weekend with opposite weekends off. Since holidays are busy boarding times, holiday shifts and weekends are a requirement of this position. Duties involve cleaning kennels and runs, feeding, watering, medicating, walking and playing with dogs. For cats duties include cleaning cat condos, feeding, watering and giving medication including insulin. Housekeeping duties include cleaning kennels and cages in the hospital and the kennel area, laundry, sweeping, mopping and tidying all areas of the hospital. Additional duties may include wrapping surgical packs and cleaning instruments, assisting in anesthesia induction, setting up for surgery, and restraining pets for nail trims, anal glands expression and blood sampling. Monthly staff meetings provide training in all areas of animal care, veterinary medicine and customer service. Staff meetings are mandatory and take place the second Friday of each month. This is a job requiring attention to detail and good housekeeping skills. Computer skills are required. Previous experience working with both dogs and cats is strongly recommended. We are looking for someone who is reliable, responsible and willing to learn.
