The Animal Services Agent collaborates with the Animal Services Coordinator to deliver comprehensive care for the animals housed within the shelter. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment, while also ensuring the overall well-being of all animals in the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in kennels, enclosures, and treatment areas using aseptic techniques Prepare and administer vaccines and prescribed daily medications in accordance with established protocols. Support veterinary staff with tasks such as animal catheterization, laboratory sample collection, and animal physiology monitoring Prepare nutritionally balanced diets for animals in accordance with their specific needs Assist with animal intake, discharge, and daily care routines Support pet owners and visitors by providing information, walk-throughs and scheduling appointments Assist in conducting temperament assessments of animals prior to adoption Transport animals outside of regular working hours to designated locations for out-of-state adoption

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

o Ability to manage shelter hygiene and cleanliness standards, ensuring proper care in animal holding areas and clinical spaces o Competence in utilizing animal care software (e.g. Petpoint) for tracking and processing animal information and adoptions o Knowledge of animal healthcare including administering vaccinations, medications, and appropriate diets o Proficiency in safely interacting with animals and handling them during various tasks such as daily care routines, intake, and temperament testing.
