Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and responsible Pet Care Specialist to join our team and provide evening and overnight care for pets in clients' homes. This is an on-call, as-needed position , not a regularly scheduled position. The role typically offers approximately 5-15 scheduled service hours per week, plus overnight assignments , depending on client demand. Hours will vary from week to week, and no minimum number of hours is guaranteed. Applicants must have consistent evening availability and be willing and able to complete overnight stays in clients' homes. This position is best suited for someone seeking flexible, supplemental work rather than a guaranteed weekly schedule. No professional pet-care experience is required. We provide paid training. The right candidate will have a genuine love for animals, excellent communication skills, and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Key Responsibilities Provide attentive and compassionate care for dogs, cats, and other small animals in clients' homes Complete scheduled evening pet-care visits and overnight stays Walk dogs and provide appropriate exercise, playtime, and companionship Feed pets and ensure they have fresh water Administer basic medications when needed; training will be provided Follow each client's detailed pet-care, home-access, and security instructions Monitor pets' behavior, health, and overall well-being Promptly report any concerns, changes, or unusual behavior Send clients timely updates, photographs, and detailed visit notes Clean litter boxes, feeding areas, pet messes, and other areas used during care Treat clients' homes, property, privacy, and personal information with respect Respond reliably and promptly to scheduling and team communications Work independently while maintaining All Paws Pet Care Services' professional standards Schedule and Compensation Part-time, on-call/as-needed position $16.00-$18.00 per hour Approximately 5-15 scheduled service hours per week, depending on client demand Overnight assignments are additional to the estimated service hours Evening and overnight availability is required Immediate availability is strongly preferred Assignments may vary from week to week No minimum number of hours or assignments is guaranteed Weekend and holiday availability may provide opportunities for additional assignments Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old Must genuinely love animals and be comfortable caring for different types, sizes, and breeds of pets Must be dependable, punctual, attentive, trustworthy, and comfortable working independently Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel between client homes Must have a smartphone with reliable service for scheduling, team communication, and client updates Must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions Must communicate clearly and professionally in English Must be regularly available for evening visits Must be willing and able to stay overnight in clients' homes Must be able to commute reliably throughout our Raleigh-area service territory High school diploma or equivalent required Previous pet-care experience is helpful but not required Benefits and Perks Flexible, as-needed scheduling Paid training and on-the-job support Mileage reimbursement Employee discount Employee referral program Opportunities for additional responsibilities and professional growth A supportive, pet-loving team environment The opportunity to spend time with animals while making a meaningful difference for pets and their families If you are compassionate, dependable, comfortable working independently, and available for evening and overnight pet care, we would love to hear from you.
