Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. This is a 30 hour per week position 8-2 Monday thru Friday, the position opens September 1 as our long time employee is starting a professional internship. As a Kennel Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care and support to our furry friends. This position requires experience in veterinary care, animal handling, and pet care.Duties:
- Provide daily care for animals in the kennel, including feeding, grooming, and exercise
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Monitor the behavior and health of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians
- Assist with bathing, grooming, and basic pet hygiene tasks
- Handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments with confidence and care
- Assist with basic obedience training for dogs
- Maintain accurate records of animal care and treatment
Experience:
- Previous experience as a veterinary technician, pet groomer, or in a similar role is highly preferred
- Knowledge of animal behavior, health, and nutrition
- Familiarity with basic pet care practices and procedures
- Ability to handle animals safely and confidently
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary staff
