Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Dog Trainer, where your passion for animals and expertise in behavioral training will make a lasting impact on companion animals and their humans. In this energetic role, you will implement a fear-free, positive reinforcement training program, strengthen relationships between dogs and thier humans, and support behavioral modification to foster confident, happy pups. Your skills will help strengthen the bond between animals and their families while promoting safe, enjoyable interactions. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with a variety of puppies and dogs of all ages, utilizing your animal handling experience to create positive change. Duties Conduct training sessions using fear-free, positive reinforcement strategies and methods Assess each dog's temperament, behavioral needs, and training progress to tailor individualized training plans Teach positive pet handling techniques and communication strategies to clients and team members Support pet behavioral modification programs for dogs with specific behavioral challenges including fear, anxiety, and reactivity Provide homework following classes to ensure clients are supported along their training journey Maintain detailed records of training progress, behavioral assessments, and client communications to ensure consistent care and progress tracking Experience Certification preferred Prior training experience or background as a trainer, assistant trainer, or veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable Hands-on dog training experience with a solid understanding of fear-free, techniques and positive reinforcement methods Animal handling expertise across various breeds and ages Experience volunteering/working in an animal shelter environment Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients about their pets' needs and progress and continuing training Familiarity with animal behavioral training principles and pet behavioral modification strategies Ability to perform physical tasks involving moderate lifting and prolonged standing or walking in a fast-paced environment Join us in creating happy, confident, companion animals while building meaningful relationships between dogs and their humans as well as between you and the team!
