Walk in the Park™ is Toledo's award-winning enrichment-based dog daycare, boarding, grooming, and training facility — voted Best of Toledo Dog Daycare 2024! We are not a traditional all-day-play daycare. We operate a structured, emotionally safe, positive-reinforcement program where dogs rotate through small playgroups, enrichment activities, rest periods, and training games.

THE ROLE
More Than a Job — A Calling We are seeking career-minded, hardworking dog lovers who want to learn, grow, and contribute to a professional dog-care team. This position is active, hands-on, detail-oriented, and physically demanding , and it requires deep patience, observation skills, and a genuine desire to understand dog behavior. This role is so much more than cuddling puppies — though you'll definitely get those moments. You'll be shaping safe playgroups, supporting anxious and shy dogs, maintaining a clean and healthy facility, and helping each dog find their joy each day.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
(Behavior, Care, Safety, and Cleaning Responsibilities Combined) Dog Care & Group Supervision Supervise dog daycare playgroups using positive reinforcement only —no yelling, intimidation, or harsh corrections, ever Monitor group dynamics and guide safe play through body-language awareness and emotional understanding Build trusting, supportive relationships with dogs of all sizes, breeds, personalities, and needs Provide individualized, compassionate attention to shy, anxious, or nervous dogs Assist in the safe screening and introduction of new dogs into playgroups Document behavioral observations, social notes, and personality traits Participate in seasonal enrichment activities, indoor/outdoor play, and structured rotation schedules Facility Cleaning & Sanitation (Added Duties) Maintain cleanliness of the entire facility, including kennels, playrooms, and outdoor yards Clean up after dogs promptly and professionally Sanitize kennels, rooms, yards, and shared spaces (sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, disinfecting equipment) Perform general cleaning tasks: washing dishes, doing laundry, dusting, emptying waste, cleaning floors Keep all common areas neat, organized, and safe for dogs and staff Follow strict safety and sanitation protocols throughout the day Teamwork & Communication Work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team Share information clearly with fellow staff to support consistent care Listen, learn, and be willing to jump in where needed Maintain professionalism with clients and co-workers Demonstrate reliability — our dogs and their families depend on consistency
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Essential Qualities Genuine passion for dog behavior, welfare, and positive reinforcement Reliable, hardworking, efficient, and detail-oriented Ability to stay calm and focused in dynamic, noisy, busy environments Strong communication and interpersonal skills Physical stamina: able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs Commitment to working weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather Access to reliable transportation Must be 18+ and able to pass a background check Preferred (Not Required) Experience in animal care, training, behavior, grooming, veterinary assistant work, or shelter work Understanding of canine body language, emotional states, and group play dynamics
