This is a hands-on role centered around assisting stylists, client care, cleanliness, inventory, and keeping the salon running efficiently. This is also a mentorship opportunity for someone serious about developing their craft and building a long-term career behind the chair. Responsibilities Maintain a clean, organized, fully stocked salon throughout the day, including sweeping, stations, shampoo areas, laundry, towels, garbage, and general housekeeping Receive deliveries, lift and move boxes, organize storage and inventory, and restock color, backbar, retail, and salon supplies Prepare stations, clients, tools, products, color, and formulas so stylists are ready for each service Shampoo, condition, apply treatments, perform single-process/root color, toners, and other non-foil color applications as directed Assist with combing, detangling, and blow-drying when needed Greet and prep clients, make coffee, tea and other beverages, and assist with check-in/check-out when needed Anticipate stylist and salon needs and take initiative throughout the day Qualifications NYS Cosmetology License required; cosmetology students welcome Salon assisting and color application experience preferred Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, tidy, and comfortable with the physical and housekeeping demands of the position Comfortable working in a busy, team-oriented salon and interacting with clients Vish and Phorest experience is a plus Makeup artistry experience is a plus Bilingual is a plus Mentorship & Career Growth This is a minimum two-year assisting and mentorship position designed for those working toward a career behind the chair. Assistants receive hands-on guidance from experienced stylists and colorists while continuing to develop their technical and client-service skills. Education and development include in-house classes, subsidized outside education through Davines and other industry programs, and opportunities to bring in models and practice your craft in the salon. After a minimum of two years assisting, qualified team members may be considered for advancement to a Junior Stylist position. Compensation & Benefits Daily pay 10% commission on all retail product sales 10% commission on backbar treatment sales Paid sick time Free salon services + employee product discounts + friends and family discounts In-house education and subsidized professional classes Model opportunities, ongoing mentorship, and career development Interview Process Candidates moving forward will be required to bring a model for a hands-on skills assessment to help us evaluate their current technical skill level.
