Indianapolis, IN Job Details Part-time 17 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Outdoor work experience High school diploma or GED Driver's License Emotional safety support Working with families Computer skills Full Job Description We are seeking a compassionate, professional, and service-oriented Part-Time Service Assistant/Guest Relations Associate on a part-time on call basis to join our team . In this role, you will help ensure funeral, visitation, and memorial services are conducted with dignity, respect, and care. Responsibilities include providing transportation support, greeting and assisting families and guests, coordinating service details, and creating a welcoming and supportive environment during emotionally sensitive times. You may also assist with the transportation of casketed deceased when needed. The ideal candidate is empathetic, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional service while supporting families through life's most difficult moments. This is more than just a customer service role. It is an opportunity to provide comfort, compassion, and professionalism when it matters most, helping ensure every family and guest receives the care and support they deserve.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive limousines, service cars, and other company vehicles for funeral services. Greet, assist, and provide support to families and guests attending services. Organize and manage vehicle line-ups for funeral processions. Assist with the transportation of casketed deceased as required. Maintain a professional and respectful presence at all times. Greet and assist guests with warmth, professionalism, and discretion Provide directions, answer questions, and offer support to grieving families and attendees. Monitor service areas to ensure a peaceful and respectful environment. Assist with seating, floral arrangements, and program distribution. Communicate effectively with funeral home staff to coordinate service details. Handle guest inquiries with patience and sensitivity in emotional situations. Operate basic electronic equipment such as telephones and photocopiers. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Perform basic housekeeping duties, including tidying service areas and replenishing supplies. Attend required training sessions and guest relations meetings.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm and supportive in emotional settings. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Reliable, compassionate, and professional demeanor. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Ability to quickly learn and operate basic electronic systems. Empathy and discretion when interacting with grieving families and guests.
Required Education and Experience:
Valid driver's license. Prior customer service or transportation experience is helpful but not required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Training provided; willingness to learn and adhere to company standards.
Work Environment:
Work involves both indoor and outdoor settings, including exposure to various weather conditions. Frequent standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 35 lbs., such as chairs, floral arrangements, or supplies). Must be able to assist guests with mobility needs as necessary. Interaction with grieving families and guests in a respectful and supportive manner. Flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, based on service needs. Hours are not guaranteed. Participation in ongoing training, guest relations meetings, and adherence to workplace policies and procedures.
