•Temp to Hire with the opportunity of permanent placement within 90 days. This position requires a skilled and detailed-oriented Seamstress/Tailor with a strong sewing and, pattern-making skills, along with the ability to work with various fabric types. The Seamstress/Tailor will be responsible for producing, repairing, and altering upholstery to meet customer or production specifications, ensuring the highest level of quality and craftsmanship.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
(include, but not limited to): Garment Construction & Alterations Sew, assemble, and finish garments according to design specifications or customer requests. Perform alterations, repairs, and adjustments. Work with various fabrics, including delicate, heavy, and specialty materials. Pattern Work & Cutting Read and interpret patterns or sketches. Draft and modify patterns to meet custom sizing or design changes. Measure and cut fabric accurately to reduce waste and maintain quality. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate sewing machines, and other textile equipment. Maintain and troubleshoot sewing equipment to ensure optimal performance. Customer & Team Collaboration Collaborate with designers, production teams, or customers to achieve desired results. Suggest design or alteration solutions based on fabric behavior. Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as a seamstress, tailor, or in a similar role. Proficiency with various sewing techniques (hand and machine sewing). Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and pattern-making. Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Basic math skills for measurement and pattern adjustments.
Educational and Skill Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Formal training in sewing, fashion design, or textiles preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of professional sewing or alteration experience (may vary depending on role level). Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for long periods while sewing. Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination. May involve lifting rolls of fabric or garment bundles (up to 25 lbs.). Additional Desirable Skills (Optional) Embroidery or decorative stitching techniques. Costume or theatrical garment construction experience. Knowledge of digital sewing patterns or CAD for fashion
