Job Description

Job Summary

An interior technician's job description is to install, remove, repair, and maintain the interior components of an aircraft, which includes tasks like fitting seats, galleys, panels, and carpeting. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to read technical blueprints and use various hand and power tools. They are crucial for ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and compliance with aviation standards, often working in a structured environment like a repair station.

Key responsibilities:

Installation and removal: Install and remove aircraft interior components such as seats, galleys, lavatories, sidewalls, panels, and carpeting.

Repair and maintenance:

Repair and replace damaged or worn interior components, including brackets, panels, and upholstery.

Modifications:

Perform modifications and upgrades to existing interiors.

Electrical systems:

Assist with the installation of basic electrical systems for interior lighting and other components.

Documentation:

Document work, track parts, and ensure compliance with company and FAA procedures.

Quality control:

Inspect work to ensure it meets quality standards and collaborate with inspectors and other technicians.

Safety and housekeeping:

Comply with safety policies, maintain a clean work area, and use personal protective equipment.

Material handling:

Remove and reinstall fasteners and use material tracking systems.

Teamwork:

Work with other technicians and departments, and sometimes train junior technicians.

Requirements

Technical skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, ability to read blueprints and technical documents, and strong mechanical aptitude.

Experience:

Recent experience with aircraft interior removal and installation, especially corporate or business aircraft interiors, is often required.

Knowledge:

Familiarity with aircraft interior systems, materials like fire-resistant fabrics, and processes such as upholstery, cabinetry, and trim is beneficial.

Soft skills:

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Physical stamina:
