About the Role As a Senior Metal Fabrication Lead, you will spearhead the production of high-end, custom furniture components, ensuring every piece meets rigorous aesthetic and structural standards. You will balance hands-on craftsmanship with team coordination, acting as a mentor to junior staff while optimizing shop workflows to drive department efficiency and growth. Responsibilities Execute precise metal fabrication tasks, including cutting, fitting, MIG welding, grinding, and finishing, to produce heirloom-quality components. Interpret complex technical drawings and specifications to ensure all custom work aligns with design intent. Manage the daily production schedule for the metal fabrication department, proactively identifying risks to meet critical project deadlines. Develop and implement standardized shop processes, jigs, and fixtures to enhance production consistency and capacity. Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members to elevate overall craftsmanship and department performance. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to troubleshoot fabrication challenges and refine production methodologies. Maintain a safe, organized, and high-functioning workspace that supports efficient material flow and equipment longevity. Qualifications Required Skills Extensive professional experience in metal fabrication and MIG welding with a focus on high-quality finishes. Proven ability to lead, mentor, or direct the work of other fabricators in a production environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to translate blueprints into finished products. Demonstrated success in managing project timelines and balancing competing priorities. Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and operational excellence. Preferred Skills Background in fabricating furniture, architectural metalwork, or other appearance-critical custom products. Experience with steel tubing, plate, and furniture-grade material profiles. Proficiency in building custom jigs or fixtures to improve repeatability. Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, shop documentation, or production scheduling.
