Tailor Compensation:
$19.00/hour, depending on experiencePosition Summary:
The Seamstress / Tailor supports upholstery production by sewing, assembling, repairing, and altering vinyl and fabric components to meet production specifications. This position is ideal for an experienced sewing professional with strong attention to detail, pattern and cutting skills, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sew, assemble, finish, repair, and adjust upholstery components according to specifications and production needs.
- Work with vinyl and a variety of fabrics, including delicate, heavy, and specialty materials.
- Read and interpret patterns or sketches and assist with pattern adjustments and modifications as needed.
- Measure and cut materials accurately to reduce waste and maintain quality.
- Operate industrial sewing machines and related textile equipment safely and effectively.
- Perform basic equipment care and troubleshooting to support consistent production.
- Collaborate with production team members to achieve desired fit, appearance, and quality results.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational and Skill Requirements:
- 2-3 years of professional sewing, tailoring, alteration, or related experience preferred, depending on skill level.
- Proficiency with hand and machine sewing techniques.
- Knowledge of garment/upholstery construction, fabrics, and pattern work.
- Strong attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, follow specifications, meet deadlines, and perform basic measurement/math calculations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Formal sewing, fashion design, or textile training is a plus.
- Embroidery/decorative stitching, custom construction, or digital pattern/CAD experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while sewing.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to lift or handle rolls of fabric/material bundles up to approximately 25 lbs.
- Regular use of sewing machines, cutting tools, and measuring tools.
Work Schedule and Pay:
- Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM-1:30 PM
- Occasional overtime may be required.
Pay Rate:
$19.00/hour, depending on experienceLocation:
Newberg, OR- Temp-to-Hire with the opportunity for permanent placement.
