Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant / technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess a strong understanding of veterinary practices. This role involves assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to our patients, ensuring their health and well-being in a supportive environment. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures. Provide proper animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians, including injections and oral medications. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any changes to the veterinary team. Prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization and aseptic technique. Assist with laboratory tasks, including sample collection and processing. Provide front desk support as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications. Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Qualifications Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices. Experience with animal restraint techniques and medication administration. Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is advantageous. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members. Ability to handle various types of animals safely and compassionately. Experience in kennel management or equine care is a plus. A commitment to providing exceptional pet care while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
