Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team at Mariner's Mile Pet Clinic as a Veterinary Assistant (VA) / Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. In this vital role, you will support the care and treatment of a diverse range of animals, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, providing essential support across a wide range of veterinary services. Whether you're assisting with diagnostics, anesthesia, or emergency care, your skills will help ensure our patients receive the highest standard of treatment and compassion. Paid positions are available for both entry-level and experienced candidates eager to grow their veterinary careers. Duties Provide animal husbandry and daily care, including feeding, grooming, and administering medications to ensure optimal health and comfort Maintain cleanliness and aseptic techniques in surgical suites, treatment areas, and kennels Assist with animal restraint and handling, utilizing knowledge of animal anatomy and behavior to ensure safety for both pets and staff Prepare animals for procedures by performing venipuncture (IV insertion), catheterization, and aseptic techniques for laboratory work and diagnostics Operate medical equipment such as radiology machines, anesthesia monitors, and laboratory analyzers to support accurate diagnostics Support surgical procedures by assisting with anesthesia administration, monitoring vital signs during surgery, and ensuring aseptic surgical environments Conduct diagnostic radiology including X-ray imaging, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed Administer medications accurately under veterinarian supervision and document all treatments in veterinary software systems Participate in client-facing duties including appointment scheduling, client communication, and managing patient records with accuracy Assist in emergency medicine scenarios by providing critical care support such as vascular access, medication administration, and patient stabilization Requirements Previous kennel experience or animal handling background is highly valued to ensure confident restraint and care delivery Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and medical procedures enhances your ability to support clinical teams effectively Ability to perform IV insertions, animal catheterization, medication administration, and restraint techniques confidently Laboratory experience including phlebotomy and diagnostic testing supports efficient workflow in diagnostic procedures Knowledge of veterinary anesthesia monitoring, general anesthesia protocols, and veterinary surgical assistance is advantageous Hands-on experience with radiology diagnostics (X-ray) and medical equipment operation is a plus Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration are essential for success in this role Join us to be part of a caring team dedicated to advancing animal health through hands-on support and compassionate service.
