Woodford County Veterinary Clinic is part of Central Illinois Veterinary Associates (CIVA), an independent, veterinarian-owned practice group with seven locations across Central Illinois. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Veterinary Assistant Woodford County Veterinary Clinic is seeking a compassionate, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with both animals and people in a busy veterinary environment. Our Veterinary Assistants work closely with our doctors and fellow team members to provide excellent patient care, support efficient appointments and procedures, and help create a positive experience for our clients. Previous veterinary or animal-care experience is preferred, but we also value candidates who are dependable, eager to learn, able to multitask, and comfortable working as part of a fast-paced team. Duties May Include Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures. Safely restrain and handle animals while prioritizing patient and staff safety. Prepare patients, exam rooms, treatment areas, and supplies for appointments and procedures. Assist with laboratory sample collection, testing, and processing. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under veterinarian supervision and according to training. Assist with catheter placement, IV setup, and other technical procedures as trained and permitted. Monitor hospitalized or recovering patients and communicate changes to the veterinary team. Maintain accurate patient records and document treatments and medications. Clean and disinfect exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, equipment, and other clinical spaces. Assist with client communication, appointment flow, and check-in/check-out as needed. Help maintain an organized, clean, and efficient clinic environment. Provide compassionate handling and care for dogs, cats, and other patients seen by the practice. Preferred Experience & Skills Previous experience in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, kennel, boarding facility, shelter, farm, or other animal-care setting is preferred. Candidates with experience in animal restraint, veterinary terminology, medication administration, laboratory procedures, patient care, or client communication are especially encouraged to apply. Successful candidates should have strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a genuine commitment to providing compassionate care.
