We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Veterinary Pharmacy Technician to join our team. Key Responsibilities:
Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescription medications under the direction of licensed veterinarians. Review prescriptions for accuracy and ensure all medications are prepared according to hospital protocols. Maintain pharmacy inventory by monitoring stock levels, rotating medications, checking expiration dates, and coordinating medication orders. Manage controlled substances in compliance with DEA, state, and hospital regulations. Process prescription refill requests and collaborate with veterinarians regarding medication approvals and changes. Communicate with clients regarding medication administration, refill requests, and general pharmacy questions. Maintain accurate medication records and documentation within the veterinary practice management software. Assist in developing and maintaining pharmacy organization, cleanliness, and workflow efficiency. Collaborate closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, and client service representatives to support exceptional patient care.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a veterinary technician, veterinary pharmacy technician, or in a veterinary hospital is preferred. Strong knowledge of veterinary medications, common dosages, and pharmacy procedures is highly desirable. However, can be trained on job. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and medication accuracy. Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable using veterinary practice management software and computer systems.
