Staff Full Time Job Description The Coordinator of Small Animal Care will work within the scope of practice for the Veterinary Technician as described by the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as the guidelines of OSHA and USDA. The Coordinator will work closely with students and designated faculty to assist in the management of the shelter program via communication and invoicing, employee oversight, and oversight of the care of the shelter animals while in care of LMU. This person will be required to assist with health concerns of both canine and feline patients, oversee kennel management duties, assist in both Surgical Skills and Clinical Skills Labs, and teach in labs where appropriate under the supervision of a veterinarian. This person will be the point of contact for shelters and students while ensuring OSHA and USDA compliance.
Required Qualifications Minimum of:
A.S. or A.A.S. in Veterinary Medical Technology;. currently holds, or eligible to hold a valid veterinary technician license in the Commonwealth of Virginia state Preferred Qualifications •Minimum of two years clinical experience in various settings; •minimum of one year being an instructor in an associate degree level veterinary technology program or veterinary medical college
