We are seeking an experienced RVT with a strong interest in veterinary dentistry to join our team. This position is ideal for a motivated veterinary technician who is passionate about dentistry, including dental radiographs, professional dental cleanings, dental charting, and extractions, and who wants the opportunity to continue developing their skills in advanced veterinary medicine. While dentistry will be a primary area of responsibility and interest, this is not a dental-only position. When dental procedures are not scheduled or actively taking place, this technician will function as a Specialty Veterinary Technician, contributing to the overall flow of the hospital and supporting our veterinarians, urgent care patients, specialty cases, and fellow technicians as needed. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys variety, has strong technical skills, works well independently, and understands that being part of a hospital team means stepping in wherever their skills are needed to provide exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities Veterinary Dentistry Assist veterinarians with comprehensive dental procedures and oral surgeries. Obtain high-quality dental radiographs, including full-mouth dental radiographic studies. Properly position patients and obtain diagnostic-quality dental images. Perform professional dental cleanings, including ultrasonic scaling and polishing, as directed by the veterinarian. Assist with and perform dental extractions within the technician's legal scope of practice and hospital protocols. Maintain accurate dental charts and documentation. Prepare, maintain, and properly sterilize dental equipment and instruments. Monitor anesthesia and recovery throughout dental procedures. Provide thorough patient care before, during, and after dental procedures. Educate clients regarding dental disease, recommended procedures, home dental care, and post-operative care. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient dental workspace. Help develop and improve dental workflows, protocols, and patient care standards as our dental services continue to grow. Specialty Veterinary Technician Responsibilities When dental procedures are not scheduled or actively taking place, the Dental-Focused RVT will function as a Specialty Veterinary Technician and an integral member of the hospital team.

Responsibilities may include:

Assist in specialized procedures and surgeries in collaboration with our veterinarians and board-certified specialists. Monitor anesthesia and recovery for specialty, surgical, urgent care, and critical patients. Provide advanced patient care in treatment, ICU, and specialty areas. Assist with stabilization and treatment of urgent and critical patients. Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as directed by veterinarians. Perform and assist with diagnostic testing, including blood work, radiographs, ultrasound, and other diagnostics. Assist with advanced patient monitoring and treatment protocols. Support the treatment and surgery teams during periods of increased patient volume. Help maintain patient flow and hospital efficiency. Communicate effectively with veterinarians, specialists, technicians, and client service team members. Mentor and support less experienced technicians when appropriate. Step into other areas of the hospital as needed to support patient care and the overall team. Flexibility and teamwork are essential to this position. The successful candidate will understand that while dentistry is a primary area of interest, their role extends beyond the dental suite. When there are no dental procedures taking place, they will be expected to actively contribute to the flow of the hospital and assist wherever their skills are most needed. Qualifications Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required. Graduation from an accredited veterinary technician program. Minimum of 3 years of veterinary technician experience preferred. Strong interest in and experience with veterinary dentistry. Experience obtaining high-quality dental radiographs. Experience performing professional dental cleanings. Experience assisting with or performing dental extractions within the technician's legal scope of practice. Strong anesthesia and patient monitoring skills. Comfortable working with urgent, surgical, and specialty patients. Strong understanding of anesthesia, analgesia, patient safety, and perioperative care. Excellent communication and client education skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team. Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced hospital environment. Compassionate, patient-focused attitude. Willingness to contribute to all areas of hospital operations when dental procedures are not taking place. Preferred Experience Advanced dental radiography experience. Experience with dental extractions and oral surgery. Experience with dental charting. Experience with dental equipment and maintenance. Experience with advanced anesthesia and patient monitoring. Experience in urgent care, emergency, critical care, surgery, or specialty medicine. Experience with specialized equipment such as an anesthetic ventilator, advanced patient monitoring equipment, or endoscopy. Additional dental or specialty continuing education.
