Makawao Veterinary Clinic, a rapidly growing veterinary clinic in Makawao, HI, has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Large Animal Vet Technician to add to our dedicated team of care professionals! In this position you will spend the majority of your time assisting the other Technicians and Veterinarians with the care and treatment of the pets who depend on us. Primary Responsibilities Training is available for candidates who possess exemplary communication skills and are passionate about learning to help care for pets! Large Animal Veterinary Technicians play a vital role in supporting the Veterinarians and Technicians who provide excellent patient care. After your training is complete, your primary responsibilities will be: Restraining large animals such as horses, cattle, llamas, etc. Assisting with small animals, as needed Expertly draw blood Place IV catheters Administer IV and subcutaneous injections Deliver excellent patient nursing care Manage Surgical prep, surgical, and post-surgical monitoring Provide superior client service, educating pet parents with a tailored approach Assist with laboratory procedures Complete special projects assigned by our Doctor Qualifications A minimum of 1-2 years of large animal veterinary experience is preferred, but not required MUST be comfortable restraining large animals and have experience handling large and small animals Experience with catheters, dental procedures, laboratory procedures, radiology, anesthesia, patient assessments, and client services a plus! The ability to effectively prioritize and meet multiple requests at one time. Must be tech savvy with the ability to learn new software quickly. Truly superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt your style to meet the needs of the person you are communicating with Hours & Availability The Makawao Veterinary Clinic team provides excellent care for pets (and their humans) during the following hours of operation: Monday -

Set schedule to be determined. 25-32 hours per week. Must be available on Saturdays.
